We're back to talking about Akbar Mehrinezhad, an Iranian photographer who started shooting about 10 years ago, and his gaze was immediately turned towards the Iranian people, especially children, those who work. In fact, he uses street photography to address themes of marginalization, culture, and customs of people. “In general, photography is like a safe house, and I am at peace when I take refuge in it.” And he himself finds himself as a child playing in the streets, as in the shot on the outskirts of the city of Tabriz (first photo). When he saw the scene, how and where they were playing, he recounts: “I ran to capture it. Even without seeing their faces, it's a narrative.” And how he focused on their shadows and a pair of dangling feet. ”I see myself as a child in them. My friends and I used to play like that too,“ he continues. ”This photo is like a snapshot of my childhood.“.
His other subjects are cats, on the streets of Tehran, but we've already told you about them. Awarded at the Photography Awards Street 22 Lens Culture in the single photo category. (Debora Valentini)
